Pitlor Mechanical Corpration's Roots Run Deep

slideNATHANPITLORIt all with began with Nathan Pitlor, an immigrant from Russia who moved from New York City with his Master's Plumbing License and started Pitlor-Gold Plumbing Company in Omaha Nebraska in 1908. Nathan utilized the streetcars of that day to attend to his service and construction business. The company continued to grow and became Pitlor Plumbing and Heating Company with "Nick" (as he was referred to) at the helm. The company survived through the Great Depression, two World Wars and remarkably an Easter Sunday Tornado that destroyed Nathan Pitlor's first Omaha plumbing shop in 1913.

The photo of Nathan was taken in 1940's at the site of the 49th and Dodge St. location where the company was headquartered until moving to the current address in 1989.

Nathan's son Norman joined with his father and entered the business in the late 1940's after having served as a paratrooper during World War II as well as a civilian worker performing pipefitting work at Pearl Harbor at the outbreak of World War II. Norman attended the University of Iowa. The company continued to grow and prosper and became N. Pitlor & Son, Inc. Mechanical Contractors in the early 1960's. Norman possessed both Master Plumber & Steamfitter licenses, was active in the Masonic Lodge as well as active on numerous city and community boards. During the 1960's & 1970's N. Pitlor & Son, Inc. was a leader in the construction of many high profile projects in the greater Omaha area including major hotels, office buildings, schools and institutional facilities.

Norman's wife Rose joined the business in 1965 and was integrally involved in the company's accounting and bookkeeping serving as Secretary/Treasure of the corporation until her formal retirement in 2010.

Norman's son Steve joined the company in 1978 after working as a Project Manager for a major mechanical contractor in Ft. Worth, Texas after his completion of his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Arizona. Steve obtained his certification as a Registered Engineer, certified Balancer, Master Steamfitter license for the City of Omaha and Master Mechanical license for the State of Iowa in addition to other associated licenses. Steve has served as President of numerous Boards and organizations including the Omaha Public School Board. He is a graduate of Leadership Omaha and served as president of N. Pitlor & Son, Inc. since 1995. Steve continues to be President and Chief Executive Officer of Pitlor Mechanical Corporation which became the name of the company in 2014.

The company has grown along with the Omaha Metropolitan Area it has served for over a century, and to this day continues to proudly build, service, and maintain many of the remarkable technological, educational, coorporate, and industrial institutions and facilities around the Omaha and surrounding communities in Nebraska and Western Iowa.
